Sri lanka to accept UPI payment, Third country After France and Singapore

Ranil Wickremesinghe, the president of Sri Lanka, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi met on Friday in Delhi. The nations signed a vision document aimed at enhancing the economic partnership. One of the key agreements was the implementation of the UPI payment system in Sri Lanka, which will boost fintech connectivity between the two countries.

On Friday, New Delhi asked Colombo to find a solution to satisfy the ambitions of the Tamil minority as Sri Lanka and India revealed a new economic collaboration for connectivity in the maritime, air, energy, and financial sectors, including access to India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) system.
