Teenage gunman opens fire in Bangkok mall, killing three and wounding four

Three people were killed and four others, including a foreign national, were injured when a teenage gunman opened fire inside the bustling Siam Paragon shopping mall in the center of Bangkok. The attacker, a 14-year-old boy, was captured by Thai police inside the mall. The Metropolitan Investigation Bureau of the Royal Thai Police announced the arrest via its official Facebook page. The young attacker was armed with a handgun.

Immediate Response and Withdrawal

Following the shooting, the mall, owned by Siam Piwat Company, was quickly evacuated and access to the nearest Skytrain station was closed by police. Thailand’s Prime Minister Shretha Thavisin confirmed the arrest of the attacker and expressed her condolences to the victims and their families. He assured that the situation is under control and officials are clearing the incident site.

The incident occurred just days before Thailand marked the one-year anniversary of one of the deadliest days in recent memory, where a former police officer attacked a nursery, resulting in the deaths of 12 adults and 24 children.
