Russia’s Luna-25 Spacecraft’s Dramatic Encounter with the Moon Ends in Shocking Crash!

Russia’s Luna-25 spacecraft developed a problem and crashed into the Moon. The spacecraft was supposed to soft-land on the Moon’s south pole, but could not because it spun too much. After 50 years, Russia is sending its first mission to the moon, which was scheduled to land on Monday and examine a location where researchers suspect frozen water and valuable elements may be present.

On Sunday morning, Russia’s space group Roscosmos shared that they could not communicate with the Luna-25 spacecraft after about 2:57 a.m. (11:57 GMT) on Saturday. The machine started following an unpredictable path and could not survive due to collision with the lunar surface.

Both Russia and India were trying to reach the South Pole of the Moon first. India’s Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft is planned to reach there next week. So far no country has successfully landed on the South Pole of the Moon. But both the United States and China have gradually landed spacecraft on other parts of the Moon.
