Rahul Gandhi defamation case – Congress to move SC

The Congress will apply to the Supreme Court to suspend the judgement against Rahul Gandhi by the lower court. On July 7, the Gujarat High Court dismissed his review petition for a stay of conviction in the 2019 ‘Modi surname case’. The court observed that Rahul Gandhi is the subject of at least 10 active criminal prosecutions.

Congress will intensify its protest and organise a Silent Satyagraha on July 12. Earlier, Rahul Gandhi (MP from Wayanad) lost his Lok Sabha membership in March 2023. This was a result of a Surat Court sentencing him to 2 years in jail in the ‘Modi Surname Case’.
