Private Aircraft Mishap at Mumbai Airport Leaves 8 Injured: Runway Skid and Crash during Landing

Eight people, including the pilot and co-pilot, faced problems after their private plane went off the runway at the Mumbai airport on Thursday. The aircraft, identified as VSR Ventures Learjet 45 with registration VT-DBL, was flying from Vizag to Mumbai when it suffered runway excursion during landing on Runway 27. There were six passengers and two crew members on board, who encountered challenging conditions with visibility limited to 700 meters due to heavy rain, reports Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

The incident, reported by the Mumbai Fire Brigade at 5:45 pm, unfolded tragically as the small private jet, VT-DBL, skidded off the runway and later crashed at the domestic airport during an attempted landing. All eight passengers were taken to Criticare Asia Hospital in Andheri East, Mumbai, with co-pilot Neil Dewan suffering serious injuries that required immediate operation.
