Prime Minister Modi retains top global leader post with 76% approval

In a recent survey conducted by US-based consultancy firm ‘Morning Consult‘, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strengthened his position as the world’s most popular leader. With an impressive approval rating of 76 per cent, PM Modi has once again claimed the top spot, a position he has consistently held in previous rankings. The survey showed that 18 percent of respondents disapproved of his leadership, while 6 percent expressed no opinion.

Global Leader Approval Rating

PM Modi’s approval rating is much higher than other major global leaders. Switzerland’s President Alain Berset and Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador trailed behind, with approval ratings of 64 percent and 61 percent, respectively. Notably, US President Joe Biden got a 40 per cent approval rating, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau got 37 per cent, UK PM Rishi Sunak got 27 per cent and French President Emmanuel Macron got only 24 per cent.

Amit Shah praised Modi’s global position

Union Home Minister Amit Shah took to social media to highlight PM Modi’s remarkable global acceptance. He stressed that this recognition not only underlines the success of Modi’s foreign policy but also acknowledges his efforts in lifting millions of people out of poverty and improving their living standards.

Successful G20 Summit and India’s global leadership

PM Modi’s continued popularity coincides with India’s successful hosting of the G20 summit in Delhi. The New Delhi Declaration, which was adopted unanimously, is an important achievement. During the summit, PM Modi proposed a virtual G20 session in November to review the suggestions and proposals made at this premier forum for international economic cooperation.

During India’s G20 presidency, a central theme was the rise of the global south and developing countries. Under the theme “One Earth, One Family, One Future” (Sanskrit translation: ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam‘), India aims to promote inclusivity. PM Modi emphasized that India’s presidency of the G20 has become a symbol of inclusion, connecting millions of citizens of India and has resulted in the historic inclusion of the African Union as a permanent member of the G20.
