PM Modi conferred with Grand Cross of the legion award in France

First Indian Prime Minister to awarded with France’s Highest Award

The highest medal bestowed by France, the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour, was given to Prime Minister Narendra Modi by French President Emmanuel Macron when he was in France on an official visit.

Foreigners can receive the Legion of Honour if they have done something special to help France, like promoting culture or helping the economy. They can also get it if they support important things that France cares about, like human rights, freedom of the press, or humanitarian work. When important people from other countries visit France, they can also be given the Legion of Honour as a way of showing respect and supporting France’s foreign policy.

PM Modi is on a 2-day France Visit

Prime Minister Modi is currently visiting France for two days as part of a state visit. He will be the Guest of honour during the French National Day celebrations, also known as Bastille Day on Friday. Upon his arrival, he had a meeting with France’s Senate leader, held discussions with his French counterpart Elizabeth Borne, and gave a speech to a gathering of the Indian community at La Seine Musicale art centre.
