Pakistani officials are preparing to transfer Imran Khan to a better jail

Pakistani authorities are set to transfer former Prime Minister Imran Khan to a jail with enhanced facilities near the capital Islamabad, following a court directive, according to statements from his party. Khan’s legal team and party were advocating for him to be shifted to Rawalpindi’s Adyala jail, insisting on its suitability for the former prime minister.

“Arrangements are being made,” Khan’s close aide Zulfikar Bukhari revealed in a message to reporters. The announcement followed a High Court order for the move, which was confirmed by Khan’s lawyer Naeem Panjutha. Panjutha initially announced Khan’s transfer on social media but later deleted the post.

Harsh Conditions and Legal Battles

Khan was lodged in an old jail in Attock, which lacked facilities like attached bathrooms and television, making it difficult for loved ones to visit him or provide essentials. His imprisonment, which began in early August on corruption charges, saw his three-year sentence temporarily suspended. However, his release on bail was postponed as he faced additional charges related to leaking state secrets. Khan argues that these allegations are aimed at preventing his participation in the upcoming elections, a claim denied by authorities.

  1. This design is wicked! You certainly know how to keep a reader amused. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Excellent job. I really loved what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!
