A huge explosion took place at a political meeting in North-West Pakistan. The news agency Associated Press says that at least 40 people died and more than 150 were injured. The incident took place during a political rally organized by a group called Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) in Khar tehsil of Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Sadly, a JUI-F leader of the area was also among those killed in the blast.

Following the explosion at the political gathering, the Associated Press reported that some seriously wounded were taken by helicopter to a hospital in Peshawar. Those responsible for the attack are yet to come forward to claim it.
