Chinese President Xi Jinping and Nepali Prime Minister Prachanda build strong ties in Hangzhou meeting

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, widely known as Prachanda, convened in Hangzhou for a crucial meeting on September 23, cementing their commitment to strengthen bilateral ties. The leaders discussed various aspects of cooperation and emphasised the alignment of their development strategies to further enhance enduring relations between their nations.

Chen Song, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Nepal, said, “Xi stressed that China attaches great importance to China-Nepal relations and will jointly work out development strategies with Nepal to continuously promote new progress in bilateral relations. Prachanda reaffirmed Nepal’s support for President Xi’s initiative, expressing their shared commitment to promoting a just and fair international order, safeguarding the interests of developing countries, and advancing global cooperation.

Warm welcome and mutual respect

President Xi warmly welcomed Prime Minister Prachanda on his visit to China. He appreciated Prachanda’s dedication to promoting friendly relations between the two countries and supporting Belt and Road cooperation. Highlighting the importance of the visit, President Xi anticipated that it would yield fruitful results and promote friendly cooperation between China and Nepal.

Reflecting the long-standing friendship between the two countries, President Xi remarked, “China and Nepal are connected by mountains and rivers, and have an everlasting friendship. The two countries’ diplomatic relations have been more than 68 years since its establishment.” Based on the five principles of peaceful coexistence, we have been respecting and supporting each other and treating each other equally, setting an example of equal treatment and win-win cooperation between large and small countries.”

Opening Ceremony of the 19th Asian Games

Prime Minister Prachanda’s visit to China coincided with the opening ceremony of the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou and co-hosted by five cities in Zhejiang province. The event, which started on Saturday evening, will continue until October 8, showcasing Asia’s vibrant culture and sporting spirit.

The meeting between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Prachanda underlined the enduring friendship between China and Nepal and their commitment to further cooperation and development, setting a positive environment for future cooperation between the two countries.
